Food Bank's Distribution Breaks All Previous Records in April
5/9/2008
From the beginning of 2008 through March 31 the Food Bank's distribution averaged 78,000 lbs. of food per day. On April 1, it was as though someone flipped a switch, jumping
that daily average 28% to just over 100,000 lbs. per day! And it held at that higher
level for 20 of the 22 shopping days in April, only falling below that on the last two
days of the month. When the dust settled, the Food Bank's total distribution for the
month was 2,099,518 lbs., which is an increase of 49,000 lbs. over our previous record
distribution in a single month. In 2007, we distributed a total of 20.3 million pounds. If our distribution were to stay at April's 2.1 million pounds per month rate through the end of 2008 we could end up distributing as much as 25 million pounds this year! The
need for that much is certainly out there, and we can get that much food. All we need is to bring the two together. Thank you for helping us do that!
